I knew the name for this large painting immediately after I finished it. It is a painting that seems to exude dignity. The cool blues and warm yellows set against the different shades of green create an evolution of harmony.

'Night Walk' is a large painting that has generated a lot of interest. At first glance the painting has a calm energy, but upon further examination the painting seems to come to life.
As a child growing up in a small southern town, I loved the night sounds and imagery. My siblings and friends often walked and played outside at night. These are some of the best recollections of my childhood. This painting is a tribute to those wonderful memories.

I love fireflies. When I was a small child at my grandmother's, I would catch them, put them in a jar, using them as a nightlight. Then, because of pesticides the fireflies disappeared. I didn't start seeing them again until a few years ago. What a joy that they are back!

Macon, Georgia hosts an annual Cherry Blossom Festival. I find the most beautiful time of the Yoshino's bloom is when the trees start releasing the flowers/petals and the wind plays with them. It's an enchanting sight!

'Secret Under The Bower' is a Southern Gothic painting.
This is a painting of a huge old climbing rose named, Constance Spry. It bloomed in the springtime at our old house out in the country. Although the rose is pink, I painted it in moonlight. Southern homes in the summer evenings... creaking screen doors, the tinkling of ice cubes, cicadas, ravenous bats chasing mosquitos in the sky... love and sensuality.

Independence was my response to people telling me that all my paintings (that I was painting at the time) were "dark". It was a struggle, but a challenge for me at that time because I was really enjoying the beauty of color (I still do!). But the painting was a wonderful success. It is full of life and struggle.
It is a painting about liberation... my liberation and yours!

I painted this painting after waking from a dream. I was surrounded by people moving forward as if we were one entity. I could only see those people around me and the sky, which was clear and blue. When I woke up I felt as if the dream were real... as if I were a part of some sort of parallel life.

In my early twenties I bought an old hardback from an antique bookstore titled, Poetica Erotica: A Collection of Rare and Curious Amatory Verse, published in 1927. In it I found a poem titled, The Teak Forest, by Laurence Hope (Adela Florence Nicolson) (1865-1904). I painted this piece of art as my vision of Ms. Nicolson's poem.

The ancient Catalpa has been found in fossils millions of years old. Its large heart-shaped leaves are bright green, and have the mystifying characteristic of secreting nectar. The tree's leaves are the sole source of food for Catalpa Sphinx moth larvae. The tree puts forth great panicles of white/lavender trumpet-shaped flowers in June or early in July. These cover the tree so thickly as almost to conceal the full grown leaves. The long thin bean-like pods often stay attached to the naked tree during wintertime, and make haunting rattling sounds in the winds.

Kundalini (Sanskrit kuṇḍalinī, कुण्डलिनी, "coiled one"), in yogic theory, is a primal energy, or shakti, located at the base of the spine. Different spiritual traditions teach methods of "awakening" kundalini for the purpose of reaching spiritual enlightenment. Kundalini is described as lying "coiled" at the base of the spine, represented as either a goddess or sleeping serpent waiting to be awakened. In modern commentaries, Kundalini has been called an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force, or "mother energy or intelligence of complete maturation".
Kundalini awakening can result in deep meditation, enlightenment and bliss. This awakening involves the Kundalini physically moving up the central channel to reach within the Sahasrara Chakra at the top of the head. In physical terms, the Kundalini experience is a feeling of electric current running along the spine.
